Two unidentified persons lost their lives in a fatal accident on Saturday night along the Sagamu-Ikorodu Expressway, Ogun State.
According to the Commandant General of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Seni Ogunyemi, several others sustained injuries in the crash.
The accident occurred at Ogijo, in front of Ile Oba, inbound Sagamu, involving a DAF truck, a Mack truck, a Solara jeep, and a Toyota Camry.
Ogunyemi stated that the DAF truck suffered a brake failure, ramming into two cars from the rear and pushing them under a moving Mack truck.
“The impact of the collision left many injured, while two persons were presumed dead. The deceased have been taken to the General Hospital morgue in Ikorodu, while the injured victims were rushed to the Health Centre in Ogijo for medical attention,” he said.
The crash caused severe traffic congestion in the area. TRACE officials and police operatives were deployed to the scene to manage the situation, while tow services were contacted to clear the wreckage.
Authorities have urged road users to exercise caution and ensure their vehicles are in good condition to prevent such tragic incidents.
