BREAKING: Rivers Ex-HoS Accuses Fubara Administration of Public Funds Theft, Vows to Provide Evidence

Former Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, George Nwaeke, has accused the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of massive misappropriation of public funds and vowed to provide evidence to security agencies.

Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday, Nwaeke described the alleged financial misconduct under the suspended governor as "mind-boggling", stating that the state received unprecedented allocations within the past two years but experienced unmatched levels of embezzlement.

While declining to disclose all his evidence to the media, he said:

"I will give details to the proper authorities when required of me. The level of stealing of public funds and assets witnessed in the last two years is shocking."

Nwaeke also alleged that Governor Fubara instructed his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to burn down the Rivers State House of Assembly. He claimed he personally witnessed the moment when a bag of money was handed over to Ehie for the operation but could not verify the exact amount inside.

In response, Governor Fubara denied the allegations, stating that Nwaeke had been coerced into making false statements against him.

Following his allegations, Nwaeke’s wife, Florence, claimed in an interview that her husband had been kidnapped and that his statements were made under duress. However, in a video response, Nwaeke dismissed her claims, asserting that he was safe and had spoken freely and willingly.

He further suggested that his wife might have been pressured into making the statement.

In his latest statement, Nwaeke maintained his stance, challenging Fubara to directly debunk the specific allegations of orchestrating the assembly complex attack rather than making general denials.

"I am surprised that he never refuted my allegations about bringing down the assembly. Instead, he chose to discuss unrelated matters," he stated.

He insisted that he had never been compromised, emphasizing that his loyalty should not be questioned, especially towards the administration that appointed him.

This revelation adds a new dimension to the political crisis in Rivers State, raising concerns about governance, accountability, and security in the state.
