A 19-year-old girl, Ramatoulie Baldeh, has been arrested for setting fire to her boyfriend’s family house in Kerr Sering, Gambia. The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, following a heated argument between Ramatoulie and her boyfriend. According to reports, she set a plastic bag on fire and placed it on a bed before opening a gas cylinder. The fire quickly spread, destroying all possessions in the house.
Although no injuries were reported, the fire caused significant damage, affecting not just the house but also the apartments of 10 tenants who lived in the compound. One of the affected tenants shared, "We are now homeless, with all our belongings destroyed. We urgently need help."
The suspect is currently in custody at the Senegambia Police Station, and investigations are ongoing.
