The ongoing legal dispute between Ojukwu Transport Company Limited (OTL) and Maple Petrochemicals, a company linked to Kwara State Governor Abdurahman Abdulrazak, will continue at the Lagos State High Court on March 10, 2025. The case revolves around the alleged lease of an OTL-owned property at 14 Probyn Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, which was reportedly leased to Maple Petrochemicals for N4 million per year from 2017 to 2027.
OTL claims that the annual rental value of the property is at least N25 million, and that the agent who facilitated the lease agreement was no longer authorized to represent the company after 2007. OTL further asserts that the agent acted fraudulently, failing to remit any funds to the company since 1995. Additionally, OTL maintains that the lease agreement is invalid due to the agent's expired mandate.
Maple Petrochemicals, however, argues that they have been tenants of the property since 1997, and they seek to prevent OTL from evicting them. The Lagos State High Court, presided over by Justice Oyebanji, will continue examining the case, with both parties presenting their respective claims.
OTL has stated that while they are open to Maple Petrochemicals remaining on the property until 2027, they demand that the company formalize their tenancy and pay the appropriate rent for the period from 2017 to 2027. The next hearing will take place on March 10, 2025.
