Tinubu Approves Relocation of Enugu Correctional Centre, 28 others [Full List]
President Bola Tinubu has approved the relocation of 29 correctional centres across the country, including the Enugu Correctional Centre, as part of ongoing reforms to enhance security and operational efficiency.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this while unveiling 39 new vehicles and five bullet-resistant guard booths for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Abuja.
He explained that many of these facilities, some dating back to the 19th century, are no longer suitable for modern correctional needs. The government has already begun the process of moving them to better locations to ensure a safer and more effective correctional system.
