On Sunday, February 9, 2025, gunmen attacked the Lubo community in the Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, resulting in the death of Reverend Bala Galadima, a pastor of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA).
According to the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the attackers broke into the pastor’s house during a robbery. The pastor was shot in the back, possibly while attempting to escape.
Witnesses reported that the gunmen first targeted the ECWA Church before moving to a nearby residence, where they stole money. The attackers did not appear to be specifically searching for the pastor, but they shot him when he went outside after hearing noises.
After the attack, Gombe State's Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, visited the hospital where the pastor’s body was taken. Authorities have deployed a special police squad to restore calm and track down the perpetrators. The police have assured residents that those responsible for the attack will be arrested and prosecuted.
