The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Éric Sékou Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles. The announcement was made during an NFF Executive Committee meeting on January 7, 2025.
Chelle, a former Mali national team coach, assumes the role with the primary objective of guiding Nigeria to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The upcoming qualification matches are set for March 2025.
With experience coaching clubs like GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne, and MC Oran, Chelle brings a wealth of experience to the Super Eagles. He also had a playing career with the Mali national team, earning five caps. His tenure with the Malian national team concluded in June 2024, opening the door for this new chapter in his career with Nigeria’s national team.
