JUST IN: Osinbajo Reacts to APC Resignation Rumour

Mr. Laolu Akande, former spokesperson to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has clarified that there is no truth to the rumors suggesting that Osinbajo has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) or left politics.

Akande made this statement during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos, addressing the recent speculations surrounding Osinbajo's political future. It has been noted that since leaving office in 2023, Osinbajo has been relatively inactive in political circles, leading to assumptions that he might have withdrawn from both the APC and politics.

Osinbajo, who contested the 2022 APC presidential primary but lost to President Bola Tinubu, has not been seen in many political gatherings recently. Some speculate his retreat from politics is due to his defeat in the APC primary, while others believe he is focusing on his role as a Global Advisor for the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP).

Akande, however, emphasized that Osinbajo has not communicated any intention to leave politics, and he remains a member of the APC. "If he gets an invitation to the caucus, you know, he will be there. I don’t think he has left the party," Akande said, reassuring that Osinbajo would attend any APC gatherings requiring his presence.
