Micheal Auta, the Kaduna South senatorial candidate for the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at an event in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna on Tuesday, Auta explained that the decision was driven by the need to collaborate with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani to enhance the welfare of the people of southern Kaduna. He pledged to help secure one million votes for both Tinubu and Sani in the 2027 general elections.
Auta expressed confidence in the ruling party’s leadership, stating that Tinubu’s administration has embraced the people of southern Kaduna, citing the appointment of a local as Chief of Defence Staff, and commended Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive governance.
“There is relative peace now; our people can sleep and return to their farmlands. The governor has not segregated us as the previous administration did,” Auta noted.
While acknowledging his loss in the 2023 senatorial race to Sunday Marshal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Auta emphasized that his decision was not solely political, but rather aimed at bringing his experience to the APC for the betterment of the region.
