The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, revealed on Friday, January 24, 2025, that the notorious terrorist leader, Bello Turji, has expressed his readiness to surrender. This announcement follows recent military operations that resulted in the elimination of Turji's second-in-command and several other lieutenants, which has reportedly forced him to release many of his fighters.
General Musa shared the update during an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today, stating that Turji, now weakened by the loss of his key commanders, is signaling a desire to lay down his arms. He highlighted the difficulty of capturing such terrorists, noting that they often move swiftly within communities, making it challenging for authorities to track them.
Despite Turji's reported willingness to surrender, General Musa stressed that individuals responsible for the deaths of innocent citizens would not be spared, stating, “We want to take everybody out. Anybody who has killed should go, people like him should not be allowed to stay.”
This revelation comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to combat the growing threat of terrorism in the country. The government has been under pressure to address the actions of terrorist groups like Turji's, which have wreaked havoc across several northern states.
As the situation unfolds, the military remains resolute in its commitment to bring those responsible for violence to justice.
