Armed bandits have abducted Honourable Abdul Musa, the serving councillor of Arak Ward in Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State, in a daring commando-style operation. The kidnapping took place late Tuesday night at Musa’s residence, marking a troubling development in the region’s security situation.
This attack comes on the heels of the recent peace agreement celebrated by the Kaduna State Government, led by Governor Uba Sani, which has been overshadowed by a resurgence of violent criminal activities. The incident adds to a series of abductions that have plagued the region in recent weeks.
Earlier this week, over 20 villagers were abducted in Kajuru Local Government, following a similar attack in Gurgu village, where 25 individuals, including the traditional ruler and his wife, were kidnapped. Additionally, armed bandits attacked Iduh village in Kauru Local Government, killing one person and abducting several others.
In a separate development, bandits are still holding hostages taken from Alheri Baptist Church in Gyiya, Chikun Local Government Area, two weeks after the kidnapping.
Despite the state's peace efforts, which include a rehabilitation program for 'repentant' bandits, insecurity continues to escalate. Governor Sani had previously emphasized his commitment to peace, but the persistence of kidnappings and attacks underscores the ongoing challenges the state faces in curbing criminal activities.
Authorities are yet to release further details on the condition of Honourable Abdul Musa or the demands made by the kidnappers.
