BREAKING: Police Uncover Two Gun Manufacturing Factories in Benue

The Benue State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has uncovered two illegal gun manufacturing factories in the state’s Guma and Kwande local government areas. This discovery follows credible intelligence about arms production in Mbaafa, Adikpo, Kwande LGA.

On January 11, police operatives raided a factory at Mbaafa, arresting two suspects, Friday Aduduakamve and Iorwashima Iornyume, who were found in possession of fabricated pistols, an incomplete AK-47 rifle, and various tools used in firearm production. The police also unearthed a second gun factory in Daudu, Guma LGA, where arms and other related materials were recovered.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Meme Ihoon, a 50-year-old suspect, in connection with the illegal arms trade in Daudu. Ihoon, who had been producing and selling firearms used by criminals, confessed to his involvement. Police recovered six Dane guns and several tools used for gun manufacturing from his residence.

Additionally, the police investigated a robbery incident involving three brothers from Cross River State, who were ambushed by a motorcyclist and his gang members on their way to Kwande. Two suspects, Terhemba Abugh and Shima Terseer, were arrested in connection with the robbery.

The Commissioner of Police, Steve Yabanet, urged community leaders and residents to join forces with the police in curbing criminal activities, emphasizing the importance of instilling cultural and religious values among the youth to reduce crime.
