BREAKING: Anti-Corruption Chairman, Detained Over Alleged N4 Billion Fraud

Barrister Muhuyi Magaji, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, was arrested by detectives from the office of the Inspector General of Police, according to reliable sources. The arrest occurred on Friday, with Magaji reportedly detained at his office by a team of police officers who arrived with an official order for his arrest.

While the exact reason for his detention remains unclear, there are growing indications that it is connected to an ongoing investigation into the alleged diversion of N4 billion and properties belonging to the Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited (KASCO) during the previous administration.

The Anti-Corruption Commission had also recently disclosed efforts to seize assets worth over N2 billion, including trailers, trucks, and minivans, which were allegedly connected to the former Managing Director of KASCO.

Magaji was taken to the One Police Headquarters in Kano after his arrest. Reports indicate that he was denied access to his legal representatives while in police custody. This development has raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the legal process.

At the time of this report, police spokesperson Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa was unavailable for comment, and no official statements had been made by the police regarding the nature of the investigation or Magaji's detention.

This case has drawn significant attention, with many questioning the impact of the arrest on the ongoing anti-corruption efforts in Kano State. It remains to be seen how this situation will evolve and whether it will have broader implications for the state's fight against corruption.
