Unknown gunmen abducted all the passengers of a commercial bus traveling from Lagos to Abuja. The bus, belonging to GIGMobility, was attacked while it was heading to Lokoja, near Obajana, Kogi State. The gunmen took control of the vehicle, kidnapping all the passengers, while the driver managed to escape.
Reports indicate that the kidnappers have contacted the families of the victims, demanding a ransom of N100 million for each person. One of the families, through a post on social media platform X, confirmed that a friend of theirs was among the victims. The post called for help, detailing the abduction and the ransom demand. Another user shared their experience, describing how they witnessed the aftermath of the kidnapping, noting that the vehicle’s windscreen had been shattered, and only the driver had been left behind after the attack.
The company, GIGMobility, has since confirmed the incident on social media, expressing deep concern for the victims and their families. In their statement, the company acknowledged the gravity of the situation and the emotional toll it has taken on all those involved.
This latest incident adds to a growing list of abductions in Nigeria. Just a few days prior, on November 26, gunmen kidnapped staff members of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Limited in Nnewi, Anambra State. According to local police, the gunmen targeted three staff members, including the company secretary, financial manager, and a security officer. Police have launched a rescue operation, though the identities of the kidnapped individuals have not been officially released.
The wave of kidnappings has sparked concern across the country, with authorities stepping up efforts to track down the perpetrators and secure the safe release of the victims.
