In a successful operation, operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have killed three suspected kidnappers and rescued their victims, a lawyer and his niece, who had been held captive. The dramatic rescue took place following a fierce gun battle between the kidnappers and the police.
The victims, Barrister Emmanuel Ubengama, a director at the Ministry of Justice, and his niece, were abducted along the Abak-Ikot Abasi Road in Akwa Ibom State. The police tracked down the kidnappers to an uncompleted building, where they discovered the victims tied up in a soakaway facility at the kidnappers’ hideout.
The gunfight ensued as the police operatives dislodged the criminals, resulting in the death of the three kidnappers. The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat kidnapping and restore safety to the region.
