BREAKING: Gov Fubara Presents Staff Of Office To Asari Dokubo

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially presented the staff of office to Asari Dokubo and three other newly recognized traditional rulers in the state. The presentation took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt on December 31, 2024.

Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant, was appointed as His Royal Majesty, the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in Degema Local Government Area. His recognition as a traditional ruler comes amid ongoing efforts to address the region's historical challenges and bring stability to local communities.

In addition to Asari Dokubo, three other individuals were also presented with staff of office. They are HRM Winston Odize Alamina Oputibeya XII, who was appointed the Amanyanabo of Koniju in the Okrika Local Government Area; HRM Eze Noble Friday Uwoh, a retired CSP, who was named the Eze Igbu-Ehuda IV in the Ahoada-East Local Government Area; and HRH Prince Ike Ehie, who was made the Eze Igbu Orilukwoe, also in Ahoada-East Local Government Area.

Governor Fubara, during the ceremony, called on the newly appointed monarchs to work closely with the government in ensuring the protection of their communities. He urged them to contribute to fostering peace and progress in their respective areas. The governor emphasized that their roles were not for personal gain, but to serve the people, stressing the importance of leadership grounded in selflessness and responsibility.

He also reminded the new traditional rulers that while the government could withdraw recognition if necessary, he hoped they would always act in the best interest of their communities. This appeal highlights the expectations for the traditional leaders to contribute positively to the governance and wellbeing of the state.
