JUST NOW: Four University Lecturers Dismissed Over Sexual Harassment, Exam Misconduct

The Governing Council of the Federal University, Lokoja, has officially approved the dismissal of four lecturers following allegations of examination misconduct and sexual harassment. The decision was made during the Second Council Meeting held on Thursday.

The council, chaired by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, commended the university management for adhering to due process throughout the investigation of the allegations, which were initially raised last year. The council emphasized that it would not tolerate any form of unethical behavior within the institution, particularly actions that compromise the integrity of the academic environment or the safety of its students.

Ndoma-Egba reaffirmed the council’s commitment to ensuring accountability and urged the management to expedite the resolution of pending cases of misconduct, including a widely discussed incident in the Faculty of Science. He stated, “The council will not tolerate any unethical conduct in the university,” and stressed the importance of addressing such issues transparently.

The council also issued a stern warning to all staff members and lecturers, highlighting that any form of harassment or exploitation of students would be met with severe consequences. It further encouraged students to report any instances of molestation or inappropriate behavior to ensure their safety and uphold the university's values.

This development underscores the Federal University, Lokoja’s determination to maintain high ethical standards and protect the welfare of its academic community.
