The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has been named a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State, scheduled for November 16, 2024. This announcement was conveyed in a statement by the APC’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, on Thursday.
The campaign council, comprising 305 members, will be led by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is expected to bring his wealth of experience from Lagos to the team. Supporting him is former Deputy Senate President Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, appointed as the council’s secretary. The council includes notable figures from the APC, such as Governors Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, and Dapo Abiodun, along with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Chairman of the National Working Committee, endorsed the council’s formation, with the inauguration slated for October 28 at the International Event Centre, known as The Dome, in Akure, Ondo State.
Other influential members enlisted to drive the campaign include former officials like Chief Olusola Oke, Senator Stella Oduah, Senator Uche Ekwunife, and retired General Abdulrahman Dambazau. These leaders are anticipated to play critical roles in various facets of the campaign operations, helping to ensure the APC’s competitive presence in the forthcoming election.
