JUST IN: FG Dissolves Two Ministries, Merges Culture, Tourism

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has made a major decision to streamline the structure of the government by scrapping two ministries and merging two others. In a significant move aimed at improving efficiency, the Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ministry of Sports Development have been dissolved.

In the case of the sports ministry, the National Sports Commission (NSC) will now assume the responsibilities that were previously under its jurisdiction, signaling a shift in the approach to managing sports development and administration in the country.

Additionally, the FEC approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy. This decision reflects the government’s intent to consolidate efforts in promoting the tourism sector alongside Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and burgeoning creative economy, further aligning with global best practices.

This restructuring is expected to optimize resources and foster better governance across the affected sectors.
