HAPPENING NOW! Senate Postpones Screening of Bianca Ojukwu, Other Ministerial Nominees

The Nigerian Senate has announced a postponement of the screening of seven ministerial nominees that was initially scheduled for Tuesday. This change was confirmed in a brief statement from Senator Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, in Abuja.

According to Senator Lado, the postponement is intended to allow the nominees time to complete their required documentation and pre-screening procedures. The revised schedule now sets the screening for Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 12 noon. Senator Lado expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding and patience regarding this rescheduling.

The nominees awaiting screening, whose names were submitted to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, include:

  • Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction)
  • Muhammadu Dingyadi (Ministry of Labour & Employment)
  • Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Minister of State for Foreign Affairs)
  • Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment)
  • Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Ministry of Livestock Development)
  • Yusuf Ata (Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development)
  • Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad (Minister of State for Education)
