BREAKING: Tinubu’s Wife Donates N1bn to OAU, Nigerians React

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Thursday announced a donation of N1 billion for the restoration of the horticultural landscape at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State. She made this announcement during the inauguration of a 2.7km road named after her, alongside a grand pavilion and monument, on the university’s campus. These projects were donated by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, as part of celebrations marking his 50th birthday anniversary.

Mrs. Tinubu recalled the university’s green landscape during her days as a student but lamented the current state of the environment, attributing its decline to poor maintenance. She called for urgent efforts to revive the once-beautiful scenery, emphasizing the need to restore the campus's lost beauty. "I will donate N1 billion for the OAU horticultural landscape to be restored. Ife is crying out for help," she stated.

In his remarks, Oba Ogunwusi praised Mrs. Tinubu’s contributions to humanity, particularly in education, women’s empowerment, and national unity. He explained that the projects, including a golden statue and a state-of-the-art hostel, were in recognition of her virtuous nature and leadership. The 2.7km road, now named "Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way," symbolizes her efforts to open new paths for youth, women, and the underprivileged. Additionally, solar-powered street lamps were installed along the road to provide lighting for students during blackouts.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, commended the projects and reiterated his administration's commitment to upgrading infrastructure across the state.

These developments underscore Mrs. Tinubu’s continuous efforts in supporting education and enhancing infrastructural development in the country.
