The Oyo State Government has announced the commencement of recruitment for 791 new officers into its mainstream civil service. This initiative was disclosed by the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Kamoru Aderibigbe, during a media briefing on Wednesday in Ibadan.
According to Mr. Aderibigbe, the recruitment is a significant effort to bolster the civil service workforce, with 230 education officers and 561 officers from other departments set to be absorbed. He highlighted that this recruitment would be the largest the state has seen in the past two decades.
The portal for the online application will open from October 7 to October 11, 2024, allowing prospective candidates to apply via the state's job portal at www.jobportal.oyostate.gov.ng. Mr. Aderibigbe emphasized that the online application process will ensure transparency, fairness, and equity throughout the recruitment process.
Candidates applying for positions requiring a degree must hold a university degree with at least a second-class honours division. Similarly, those applying for positions needing a Higher National Diploma (HND) must have graduated with a minimum of lower credit. Additionally, all candidates must possess their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificates.
Mr. Aderibigbe reiterated that the Civil Service Commission is committed to ensuring competence in all aspects of the recruitment process and assured that there will be no political interference.
This recruitment drive marks a critical step in strengthening Oyo State’s civil service, providing job opportunities, and improving service delivery across various sectors of governance.
