...Promises Peaceful, Secure, and Prosperous Council
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship candidate for Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka, has launched his manifesto, ahead of the September 21, 2024, local government council election in Enugu State. Titled “In Touch with Tomorrow,” the manifesto was presented to journalists in Enugu, offering a detailed plan for Udenu’s development and future.
Aka Eze Aka outlined his vision of a peaceful and prosperous Udenu, with security as a cornerstone of his administration. “We are committed to fostering a reliable security framework, enhancing local vigilance, and ensuring that every resident feels safe,” he said during the unveiling. He further noted that his administration would support the local economy by modernizing markets and infrastructure, including road rehabilitation and rural electrification. His focus on modernizing key economic zones like Obollo Eke and Orie Orba Markets aims to elevate the region as a hub of economic activity.
Aka promised to focus on agriculture, housing development, ICT, and tourism, with plans for synergy with the state’s initiatives to boost agricultural productivity and ensure industrial growth. By working closely with communities and the state government, the PDP candidate intends to develop an innovative Council-Community Partnership model. This would involve designating land for both agricultural and industrial use, aiming to spur economic prosperity through rural engagement.
On housing development, Aka revealed plans for a semi-urban housing estate that would cater to the needs of Udenu’s growing population, contributing to the broader vision of transforming the region into an economic hub. He emphasized that his administration’s approach would be centered on transparency, accountability, and servant leadership to ensure that all sectors receive attention.
Youth empowerment is a major component of Aka’s manifesto, with a strong focus on preparing Udenu’s young population for the digital age. His administration would invest in revitalizing and upgrading the Udenu Tech Hub to meet international standards. “Our youths are the future, and we must equip them with the knowledge and tools to thrive in a competitive, technology-driven world,” he stressed.
He also committed to education reforms, pledging to ensure the completion of smart schools and vocational centers. Aka said these facilities will be key to providing students with practical skills and knowledge, while also supporting teachers with additional resources and professional development.
On infrastructure, Aka promised to prioritize road projects to connect key rural areas with economic zones. His administration would ensure that rural roads are rehabilitated, particularly around the economic hubs, to facilitate trade and improve the quality of life for residents.
Electricity and renewable energy are also central to Aka’s vision for Udenu. His manifesto includes a commitment to securing reliable public power supply to boost small, medium, and large-scale businesses. He added that his administration would explore renewable energy options to provide reliable power in critical public facilities like hospitals and schools.
Aka’s vision for Udenu extends to tourism as well. Highlighting Udenu’s rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes, he said his administration would actively promote festivals such as Onwa Asaa, Onwa Ano, and the Ezimo Carnival to attract visitors and showcase the cultural richness of the area.
In his remarks on sanitation, Aka underscored the need for a clean and safe environment. He promised to plant economic and ornamental trees, curb deforestation, and deploy renewable energy systems for a cleaner and healthier Udenu.
In conclusion, Aka reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, vowing to work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth groups to foster a community-driven approach to development. His vision for Udenu is rooted in transparency, economic growth, and empowering citizens to take an active role in shaping their future.
With his manifesto, “In Touch With Tomorrow,” Aka Eze Aka has laid out a comprehensive plan for Udenu that promises peace, security, and sustainable development. The forthcoming election will determine whether this vision becomes a reality for the people of Udenu Local Government Area.
