The Benue State Police Command has successfully rescued all 20 medical students and a house officer who were kidnapped in Otukpo Local Government Area eight days ago. The victims have been safely recovered, marking the end of a tense week-long ordeal.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, confirmed the rescue operation. In a brief statement, she said, “Kidnap victims rescued. Details will be released tomorrow morning, please,” indicating that more information on the operation will be provided later.
This rescue follows the deployment of a Tactical Squad by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, just two days prior. The swift action by the police force highlights their commitment to securing the safe return of the abducted individuals.
This incident had drawn significant attention and concern, particularly from the medical community and residents of Benue State. The safe rescue of the students will likely bring relief to their families and the broader community.
